An Apology Regarding "The Voice"...
by AGuest into the household of god that is israel... and all those who go with them... may you have peace!.
i have been coming here for some time (although not in recent months, my sincere apologies) to share with you various truths that i have received from the truth.
for some of you, there has been little or no doubt as to the "authority" by which i share such things, the true source of such understandings: i have not refrained from confessing to you time and again that they are not mine, but are what has been given me by my lord, jaheshua mischajah, son and christ of the most holy one of israel, the god of abraham, isaac and jacob, whose name is jah or armies.

You will not read many positive things there because most people have dedicated themselves to bash them. This is not the place to be if thats the case.
Then why are you here Joker? Enlighten us. -

Negative Thinking Has Power
Writing in the Christian Century of January 5, Simeon Stylites sought to temper the enthusiasm for positive thinking, saying that when it ?is identified with a psychological pep talk to oneself, the best things of life and of true growth of mind and heart are left out.? Rather than exuding superconfidence all the time, one might very well let a little modesty and humility seep through also, though any such display of self-depreciation might be viewed as negative thinking. The writer concludes his column with these words: ?The power of negative thinking is beautifully and profoundly pictured in the words of the returning Prodigal to his father: ?Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no more worthy to be called your son.? That is about as negative as a person can get. And such self-awareness and consciousness of failure is the gateway to power. Humility is the first step in learning. Such a feeling is very different from the kind of ?positive thinking? to which many today are painfully aspiring, the kind that says, ?Watch me, boys! I?m going places.? That mood may be the beginning of becoming a Big, Booming Success. It is not the door to the life which is Life indeed.? ( Look at all the mags we produce each month, look at our growing numbers, these are evidence of God's blessing )
*** g75 3/22 p. 5 Is More Governmental Control Needed? ***
?But,? you may say, ?that is just hopeless, negative thinking; and besides, there is no alternative. We have to keep trying.? However, after six thousand years of ?trying,? is it negative thinking or is it realistic thinking that points to such conclusions? Facing up to the truth may be bitter medicine, but it is the best medicine, because it may also open otherwise closed minds to the real solution.
Is it negative or realistic thinking to question their ability to know God's will, if after 125 years of predicting dates for Armeggedon, they've really shown no insight at all... -

How much harm have you caused your congregation?
by Joker10 inhow much harm did you cause to the people in your congregation?
everybody complains how the witnesses did this and that and in the process caused so much harm.
but what you don't say is how much pain you caused others while you were in.

Joker, a lot of us who do the fade have to go through a lot of hassle and inconvenience to avoid causing harm and mental anguish to those we left in the cong. Due to the insecurities in their beliefs (and yours I assume), and their apparent fragile psychological state when confronted with the inconsistencies with the WTBS teachings a lot of us have to start new lives rather than confront these ones and ruin their little world.

Lawnmowers... what is your oppinion???
by Elsewhere init is getting close to time for me to buy a lawnmower.
when i was growing up and cutting my dad's lawn he always had a self-propelled lawnmower.
i was very lucky in that i never had to use a push-mower.

Have a friend who loves his battery powered lawnmower and it's also recommended by consumer reports...
Best choices for those with small, relatively flat properties:
3 Yard-Man, $200, CR Best Buy
4 MTD, $200, CR Best Buy
13 Bolens, $190
15 Black & Decker, $465
The gas-powered Yard-Man 11A-435D (3) and MTD Pro 11A588Q (4) perform equally well, though the MTD Pro 11A588Q (4) is sold only at Sam's Club and may be harder to find. Also consider the gas-powered Bolens 11A-584E765 (5) if you don't side-discharge clippings and the Honda Harmony II HRS216K2PDA (6) if side-discharging is the mode you use most. Among electric push mowers, the plug-in Bolens 18A-V17-765 (13) is a fine, low-priced choice if you don't have many entangling shrubs. The cordless Black & Decker CMM 1000 (15) cuts more evenly and mulches more thoroughly, though you pay for its convenience with a higher price and limited run time. -

WT: The Perfect Man/Woman Must be Vegetarian
by Gerard in*** watchtower 1961 december 15 pp.766-767 questions from readers *** questions from readers
when, in genesis 1:30, god says: "to every wild beast of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving upon the earth in which there is life as a soul i have given all green vegetation for food," are we to understand that this absolutely excludes the idea that any animals ate meat at that time or before that?
and on this basis are we to conclude that all animals will be vegetarian in the new world?

The WT responds:
Let us take the Bible position on the subject and not over-occupy ourselves with merely incidental matters to the extent of wasting time, thought and peace of heart and possibly stumbling ourselves into the camp of the godless evolutionists.
WHAT? who said anything about evolution?!!
oh yeah, they did earlier in their reply:
Accordingly, if man has been eating animal flesh and insects for four thousand three hundred years and has teeth that can be adapted to eating such solid food as flesh, it is not strange that birds, insects and other animals should be also living on flesh that they hunt for and catch.
adapt=evolution (except in the borg) -

*** Awake! 1967 August 22 p.27, 28 ***
True, mere brain size in itself is not as important as brain quality, but where the quality is the same the larger brain size has an advantage. Thus Science News, April 1, 1967, told of twenty African children who were so extremely undernourished in the first few years of their lives that "head circumferences...averages an inch less that the others, indicating smaller brain." And over the years all these were found to have verbal, mathematical and perceptual capabilities far below those of other children. Implicit in these findings is that man is advantaged by a greater brain size.
That it is in the best interests of both sexes for man to take the lead is also supported by psychological evidence. One of New York city's leading psychiatrists and psychoanalysts, Dr. Marie N. Robinson, in one of her books, which deals with certain frustrations of married women, skillfully demonstrates by case histories that many of these particular frustrations can be ended if women will but recognized the fact that the way their bodies are made gives evidence that it is intended for man to be the head. As she expresses it, women must learn the art of "eternal acquiescence" and "deep altruism" in dealing with their husbands if they want to find happiness. -

This one is kinda funny
*** Awake! 1973 March 22 pp.13-14 Chess-What Kind of Game Is It? ***
Highly Competitive Game
However, pitting one mind against another, with the element of chance eliminated entirely, tends to stir up a competitive spirit in chess players. In fact, chess is frequently characterized as an 'intellectualized fight.' For example, dethroned world chess champion Boris Spassky noted: "By nature I do not have a combative urge. . . . But in chess you have to be a fighter, and of necessity I became one."
This helps to explain why there are no topflight women chess players-the more than eighty chess grand masters in the world are all men. Actress Sylvia Miles observed regarding this: "To be a professional chess player, you have to be a killer. If the spirit of competition in American women ever does become that strong, then I think we'll get some major female players." -

How do you dissuade helpful witnesses?
by Tim Horton in.
for those that have done the fade and had one or more "concerned" witnesses trying to keep in contact and/or study with you, what have you done to dissuade these helpful ones from bugging you while keeping any apostate red flags from popping up in their minds?
(as this may only serve to increase their interest in you and initiate inquiries into your true beliefs)
